Chilly Willy

Last night, for the first time in more than 5 months, I turned the furnace on. Can you blame me? The temperature in the house was 68 degrees! *rubbing hands together to warm them* Don’t worry. I didn’t go nuts. I set the thermostat to 69. I can’t remember if I shut the thing off this morning. I have to say it goes from air conditioning to furnace weather pretty damn fast around here.

The first thing that gets cold on me are my toes (I know, I’m weird). Last night, while watching Prison Break, I was actually wearing wool socks. Later on, I even brought a comforter out. The only thing missing was a fireplace. The cooling season is definitely upon us. Jackets are starting to come out, shorts are going the way of Hillary campaign buttons, and football season has now begun (poor Tom Brady).

I can remember how much Brandy, our Saint Bernard, loved the winter and snow.

Unless it was bitterly cold, she would spend hours laying in the white stuff (and eating it as well). I have many pictures and videos to help me recall those early '00 days. On many an evening, I would shovel the front drive while Brandy found a spot and watched me do so.

We have a snow thrower now, so doing it the old-fashioned way is starting to fade. I can remember how proud I was in prior years when I would be the only one shoveling while others in the neighborhood were doing it the wussy way. Now I’m a wuss as well. *sigh*

I am very serious, Houston, but will try to do better tonight (I'll only turn it on if it gets down to 66).

DUDE. you're nuts. i won't turn on my furnace until the ol' thermostat reaches 49. then it gets set for 57/62 depending on the time of day. it's like a game i play each year, how long can i wait. one year it was quite nearly thanksgiving.

I was serious... it will not get cool enough for a furnace here in Houston until probably sometime after the new year. Usually at Thanksgiving it is warm enough for regular sleeves and sometimes shorts and wife beaters (tank tops_. LOL

Superbowl Rings, HOT model girlfriends, tons of cash...

No sympathy from Tom coming from Rocket

I still have the air on, its hitting 100 degrees here in Phoenix. The fireplace is enough for us on the one or two chilly days a year we get here.

I miss this time of year in MN. Love the Fall!

Our days of "hell" are ending down here so it will be nice to have 9 months of perfect weather ahead. I have had enough of the heat.

Sarah, 49 degrees?! You are hard-core.

Houston, love the wife-beater line.

Rocket, I guess what I'm getting at is that the season will probably be less interesting with no Brady heroics to be seen. Oh well. At least we still have Favre playing. :P

Tim, even though the turn of the seasons probably isn't as obvious where you reside, hope you have a great fall in the land of the rising sun.

I have all of my windows open right now-it's like, 65 out.

It was close to 100 here (I think the thermometer on our sign read 99 most of the day)and it is still 84 degrees at 8:48 pm.

We might get into the upper 70s tonight...

Damn, Mags, you got it bad for the white stuff. Sorry about Tom Brady. It's going to suck not being able to see his heroics this season. Here's to the first fall's frost!

Houston, that kind of heat is just not for me. Stay cool. BTW, I didn't need to turn the furnace on last night nor do I plan to do so anytime soon. I'm gonna toughen it out (and save a few bucks in the process).
