An Outcome That Should Surprise No One

As anyone who's been following my weblog for the last week to ten days can tell, I've become hooked on posting videos. It was only a matter of time before YouTube started calling my name. I joined yesterday and have already posted more than a dozen vids. Several of them (from the late 80's and early 90's) were taped directly off the TV. Though the picture quality isn't the best, it's feels good to have a back-up in case my tapes ever break, are lost to fire, or become vaporized at the onset of Armageddon. You can find all of them here.

Certainly not. I've been (relatively) camera-shy for decades.

This is really cool. I'll also have to check out some more of those vids. It's great that you do it with Zoe when events are more spontaneous. If I knew how to pull this off, I'd love to do it with unsuspecting friends when we sit around talking about sports, workplaces, etc.

You could pick up one of these Tom:

They are 167 bucks but you can record all your VHS tapes to DVD for the cost of the blank DVDs which are cheap. Its also very easy to do with this product.

It also records TV onto DVD or tape and works just like a VCR.

If on a budget just send it back after you convert everything. That was my plan as I am so cheap but it turns out it also makes DVDs easy from a camcorder so we kept ours as the wife likes to make DVDs for the family without messing with the computer.

We have a different model thats a few years old but it works great.

Just an idea for VHS tape backup as they can deteriorate over time.

PJ, forget the video stuff; I'll just be happy when you finally add a pic of yourself to your website.

Tim, many thanks for the link. I was planning on calling some of the places that do weddings in town and asking how much it would be to convert some of my VHS tapes to DVD as one of them actually broke while I was seeing what was on it.
