September 6, 2006 - Journal entry

Boy, did I see a doozy of a documentary last night on HBO on Demand. It's called "Telling Nicholas" and takes place a few days after the events of 9/11. It deals primarily with a 7-year old boy whose mother apparently passed in one of the towers on that day.

The father and the rest of the family struggle with how and when to tell Nicholas that his mother has passed on. Documentaries are one of my favorite genres of movies due to the fact that they are taken from real life (movies don't need to have explosions and sex to be compelling).

Thomas, thanks. I am going to set to record this right now.

I can't even FUCKING imagine trying to do that, heart breaking, what the fuck do you say?

I LOVE documentaries as well.

Damn, I just noticed that this is an OLD journal entry.

I'll try to find it on the net.

I can't even imagine. How awful.

I love documentaries as well. I have just recently watched "Ghosts of Abu Graib" and it was fantastic and disgusting at the same time. I have one now that I still need to watch about the tomb of Jesus. I love info. My sixth grade teacher had this awesome sign on the door of her classroom that said, "Free Information.... Bring your own container".

I liked that a lot.

I'm gonna have to hunt down this documentary and let the tears roll.

I'm with you-if it happened in real life, I'm all about it. However, if they had just made a movie about faceless people that never lived it into a movie, I'm not sure it would appeal to me.

I love documentaries too. I would love to see one on the same subject with family memebers of troops killed in the war explaining that their parents have died. As morbid as that sounds I think it would be a good look into society that would be worthy of a film and some discussion.
